The importance of cross-border public health cooperation: euPrevent 2021 factsheet

2021 was an eventful year. While the COVID-19 pandemic continued having an impact on healthcare systems and everyday life, it brought to light the fact that complex societal issues need adequate responses. Therefore, while we carried on tackling COVID-19, we also focussed on other major cross-border public health challenges.

For example, we started the euPrevent PROFILE project, which focuses on preventing and tackling loneliness among the elderly in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. We also organised several citizen summits for several topics, in recognition of the fact that citizens’ voices need to be heard in cross-border policies.

We are therefore proud of the fact that, in 2021, once again we worked hard to strengthen our network and promote cooperation between health organisations in the border region.
