Since 1978, the Euregio rhine-maas-north has been working to make European integration tangible for the citizens of this region. It aims to strengthen the mutual understanding of the Dutch and German inhabitants of the Euroregion, to deepen contacts and to stimulate cooperation. The Euroregion paves the way for citizens in this part of Europe to meet each other, even when borders and differences in language, culture and regulations still seem to be an obstacle.
In the Dutch part of the Euroregion, these are the municipalities of Beekdaelen, Beesel, Bergen, Echt-Susteren, Gennep, Horst aan de Maas, Leudal, Nederweert, Peel en Maas, Maasgouw, Roerdalen, Roermond, Sittard-Geleen, Venlo, Venray and MKB-Limburg.
On the German side, in addition to the Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf, the cities of Mönchengladbach and Krefeld, the southern part of the Kreis Kleve, the municipalities of Brüggen, Niederkrüchten, Straelen, Geldern, Schwalmtal, Nettetal, Wassenberg and Wegberg, Selfkant, the Kreis Viersen, the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, the Kreis Heinsberg, the Industrie- und Handelskammer Mittlerer Niederrhein and the Niederrheinische Industrie- und Handelskammer zu Duisburg.
