In the coming years, we want to do a lot of work to address the issue of loneliness in older people in the Euregion Meuse-Rhine. Our ambition is great!
In the euPrevent PROFILE project we focus on 3 action points: 1) promoting intergenerational exchange, 2) increasing awareness among professionals and citizens, and 3) developing guidelines and best practices.
In this first phase, our focus is on gathering and combining knowledge in the different regions on the topic of loneliness among the older people. We are working on a literature review on the topic. Through our cross-border cooperation, we want to make a difference by connecting and strengthening what already exists.
We are now laying the foundation for the later development of guidelines and training on how to tackle loneliness in the older people. We would also like to develop audiovisual material to raise awareness of the issue. In addition, we are currently in contact with local theatre makers to develop a blueprint for a play about loneliness.
In all that we do, we want to involve different target groups, including vulnerable and older persons at risk of loneliness, local government bodies, professionals, volunteers, social and community associations for the older people, and the general public.
We hope to inspire and amaze each and every one of you.
