Since 2017 euPrevent has been working on the theme “self-help friendly hospitals”.
In self-help friendly hospitals there is a collaboration between the hospital, self-helpgroups and patient-organizations.

Self-help friendly hospitals in the EMR

This concept was first introduced in Germany and has found its way to Flanders (Belgium). The next step is introducing this concept in the rest of the EMR together with the German and Belgian partners of euPrevent. For this, sufficient knowledge is available within the network of euPrevent Patient Empowerment.

Concept ‘Self-help friendly hospital’

  • Hospitals look for ways to make patient participation possible.
  • Associations are looking for more cooperation with professionals and want to represent the interests of their members / supporters.
  • “Self-help friendly hospital” = participation and cooperation.
  • Self-help friendly hospital improves the quality of care.
  • Patient organizations are important actors to contribute in health care facilities
