Project Cardiovascular Disease Prevention

“Increasing consciousness and access to treatment, reducing the burden of cardiovascular diseases across Europe”. A project of Active Citizenship Network (ACN) in which euPrevent is an associate partner. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a primary source of death not only in Europe, but also worldwide. Its manifestations have a major impact on the lives of millions of patients and those around them. However, CVDs can be prevented.

The goal of the project is to increase the awareness on the importance of the prevention, the consciousness on correct lifestyles and access to treatment, and management of pathologies correlated to cardiovascular protection, as well as on the new available therapeutic options that exist today.

Target group: civic and patient’s associations and citizens/general public

Partners: 19 national associations in Europe including ACN and euPrevent

Period: 1 June 2019 – 30 December 2020

Focus of the Project

The aim of the project is to increase the consciousness of preventions, to collect good practices and to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases across Europe.

Activities

The project will carry out the following activities:

  • A cycle of training seminars addressed to the leaders of civic and patients’ associations from different European countries.
  • A European and national awareness campaign on proper lifestyles and on the prevention of the risks linked to cardiovascular disorders and pathologies.
  • Promotion of exchange of experiences between the national associations and EU advocacy groups that are specifically devoted to the theme of cardiovascular protection.
  • A public event at the European Parliament, to share good practices and political views to subject to the attention of the new European institutions.

Collaboration

So far 19 organisations from various European countries including euPrevent and ACN are collaboratively working on the project, and 3 European associations provide advocacy expertise on CVDs at the EU level.
